I have always lived close to the ocean and couldn’t imagine it any other way. Growing up on the Northeast coast of England, I have fond memories of my time at the beach … regardless of the weather. Did I mention the weather? Cold, wet and windy describes it but it didn’t stop me from playing for hours on the sandy beaches or deter me from running into the freezing cold North Sea for a swim.
When relocation to Los Angeles, CA became an option almost 24 years ago, there was only one stipulation – I had to live by the ocean and ended up living my dream in Santa Monica, CA. Since then, my time at the beach has consisted of bike rides up down the bike path, relaxing at one of the many waterside restaurants and sitting on the sand watching the dolphins and the sail boats. I had never been on a sailboat until I came to work at Blue Pacific Yachting almost 5 years ago and it’s easy to understand the attraction. Nothing compares to the feeling you get when you round the corner and head out into the open ocean. With the engine turned off, the sails up and all your troubles left on shore, you are greeted by the best view of Los Angeles, from the ‘other’ side. I love it!
